      Objectives of general skills

      • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
        • Understand the stages of an engineering approach
        • Identify and describe the problem to be solved and the functional need (of the project owner) to be met considering the state of technology
        • Design, evaluate and optimise solutions addressing the problem
        • Identify and acquire the information and skills needed to solve the problem
      • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in arts, science, engineering and construction to solve problems involving these disciplines
        • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering sciences and construction

      UE's Learning outcomes

apprehend, identify and solve heat transfer problems in buildings; identify and physically explain the phenomena; put the heat transfer problems into equations; give the relations needed to evaluate the equations parameters; specify the solution method of the equations related to the problem.

      UE Content

heat transfer mechanisms; thermal conductivity; fundamentals of radiative heat transfer; fluid flow basic laws; convective heat transfer; heat transfer between two fluids; notions of thermal physiology; calculation of heat losses

      Prior experience

basic training in physics; notions of mechanics; notions of optics; heat balance of a system; ordinary differential equations
