Objectives of general skills
- Professionally communicate and present original work both orally and in writing.
- Communicate and interact in a clear and structured manner, orally and in writing, on issues, analyses and projects.
- Present and structure data in a clear, precise, neutral, and non-oriented way.
- Act in an international and multicultural context.
- Demonstrate an open mind and adaption.
- Implement a teaching strategy adapted to an audience of secondary school students.
UE's Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- use the knowledge in sociology of education to correctly interpret the situations they encounter in and around the classroom and to adapt themselves to the school population they will encounter as future teachers;
- understand the societal issues linked with their future teaching practice;
- understand the functioning of the educational system of French speaking Belgium and understand its effects;
- adopt a critical point of view on school organization and on their own teaching practice.

Several question will be addressed, amongst others:
What is sociology of education?
What is a fair school?
Must there be free school choice?
Does our school system foster segregation?
Can we understand the origin of educational inequalities?
Is it necessary to "give more to those who have less"?
Is it necessary to reform educational tracks?
