Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
    • Understand, reformulate and summarise documents and presentations, in French, on various topics written by experts, including those related to current affairs
  • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
    • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
    • Reformulate, summarise, translate or interpret a document of general interest written or presented orally in a foreign language into French
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course (for the AA Written Communication and Text Synthesis), students will be able to
- apply writing techniques (reported speech, internal reformulation, coherence and cohesion structures, variety of means of expression) specific to the type of writing required;
- produce text summaries (possibly by creating the file themselves) that meet the dual requirement of faithful treatment of information as well as correctness and elegance of language. 

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

For the Written Communication and Text Synthesis AA: Processing of files for text synthesis (news, social issues, etc.). Production of summaries individually or in sub-groups and in semi-autonomy. Various strategies for correcting and revising texts (training in self-correction and peer correction). 
For the AA "oral communication": Treatment and restitution of speeches
