Learning Outcomes of UE

Students will acquire the fundamental basis in immunology allowing to understand the normal function of the immune system. They will be familiar with notions of innate and adaptive immunity and will understand the peculiar role of different players involved in the process.  Skill in fundamental concepts in imunology will provide essential elements to study pathologies linked to the immune system (inflammation, autoimmune reactions, allograft rejection, allergies)..

1) Introduction to immunology.
2) The players of the immune response.
3) Innate immune response.
4) Antigen capture and presentation to T lymphocytes.
5) The molecules of major histocompatibility complex.
6) Antigen recognition in the adaptive immune system- B and T lymphocyte antigen receptors.
7) Cell-mediated immune response..
8) Humoral immune response.
9) Immunologic tolerance.
