Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Student should be able: to understand the physics and working principle of basic electronics components like the junction Diode, the MOS and Bipolar transistors, to get a mathematical and intuitive approach to fundamental equations of electricity and quantum mechanics, to identify main semiconductors device parameters and to understand their relationships, to analyze and understand different elementary circuits based on discrete components like diodes, transistors, resistances and capacitors, to simulate circuits with LTSpice simulator, to put in practice simplified analysis techniques based on the decomposition of a problem into a DC and AC individual circuits analysis, to understand the design flow of integrated circuit through the use of Cadence CAD tools, to get insight on advanced electronics devices like sensors, MEMS,the Schottky diode, the GAN transistor, the thyristor, the triac...
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Theory-exercices mode course, in face-to-face mode, preferably. In the case of eventual sanitary problems, the course will be switched to distance mode. Students must be present during the first course lecture. Contents: energy bands, the Fermi level, electrical conductivity, transport equations, carriers generation and recombination, the PN junction at equilibrium, reverse and fordward biased, diode model, MOS transistor, MOS capacitor, short channel effects, MOS models, Jsspers's diagram, Bipolar transistors fundamentals, Ebers and Moll models, transport model, current equations, small and large signal devices models; transistors fundamental stages, two transistors stages, current mirrors. Advances electronics devices. Introduction to microelectronics, Microelectronics technologies, integrated circuits design flow on Cadence CAD tools.
