Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Design, evaluate and optimise solutions addressing the problem
    • Implement a chosen solution in the form of a drawing, a schema, a plan, a model, a prototype, software and/or digital model
    • Communicate the approach, results and prospects to a project owner or a board
    • Identify and acquire the information and skills needed to solve the problem
  • Complete an architecture project, individually or as part of a team
    • Analyse and characterise complex problems in the field of architecture by adopting a scientific, heuristic, hermeneutic, systemic and transdisciplinary approach which integrates ethical, cultural, human, economic, technological and environmental contexts and issues
    • Use the principles and tools of planning (time, tasks and resources)
    • Ensure a project is tracked and documented according to its specifications
    • Adapt the approach and achievements taking into account the feedback received
    • Respect deadlines and timescales
  • Collaborate, work in a team
    • Interact effectively with other students to carry out collaborative projects.
    • Identify and appropriately implement the different ways of working in a group
  • Communicate in a structured way - visually, orally and in writing, in French and English - giving clear, accurate, and reasoned information
    • Argue to and persuade a project owner, teachers and a board orally, with visual aids and in writing
    • Use several methods of written and graphic communication: text, tables, equations, sketches, maps, graphs, etc.
    • Give an effective oral presentation, using presentation materials appropriately
    • Present analysis or experiment results in laboratory reports
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and independence throughout their studies
    • Demonstrate self-awareness, asses themself, and develop appropriate learning strategies.
    • Develop scientific and cultural curiosity and open-mindedness
    • Learn to use various resources made available to inform and train independently

Learning Outcomes of UE

- To be able to design collective housing for today and tomorrow, taking into account the mixed needs of our society.
- Be able to design innovative housing typologies: shared housing, transgenerational housing, kangaroo housing, mixed housing with shared services, also integrating shared spaces and service functions.
- Be aware of the influence of the carrier system on the architecture.
- Be able to design the wireframe diagram for the transfer of loads present in a building.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

The teaching unit consists of the architecture project 4 - collective housing - and the structural design course which introduces the first considerations concerning the stability of constructions.
