Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this EU, students will be able to :
- characterize the development of individuals with disabilities in the different spheres of human functioning: communication, socialization, language, cognitive functioning, autonomy, etc.
- Describe and appropriately use developmental assessment tools to determine the level of development of individuals with disabilities.
- to propose pedagogical intervention paths in order to stimulate and develop the skills of people with disabilities (particularly individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, etc.). )
- provide primary, secondary and tertiary prevention guidelines

In accordance with the competency framework of the clinical orthopedagogue, at the end of this course, the student will be able to :
- to perform prevention, support and treatment interventions, seeking to improve the possibilities of development and fulfillment, quality of life, participation in society and autonomy of the client and/or the client's environment.
- to correctly and systematically exploit the intervention process

Content of UE

What characterizes atypical development? How to evaluate it? How to intervene with the person who presents such an atypical development?
The content of this AA will focus first on the theoretical models of typical and atypical human development. Next, we will discuss techniques for assessing human development, taking into account the spheres of autonomy, socialization, communication, language and cognition. Using the results of these tools, we will study early intervention strategies, as well as primary, secondary and tertiary prevention practices.

Within this UE, the following chapters will also be discussed:
* The alternative communication
* Observation + Quebec Adaptive Behaviour Scale - EQCA
* Literacy
