Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Linguistic Skills - Apply linguistic knowledge to the practice of translation or interpretation.
    • Master the French language at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
    • Master the foreign languages at level C2 in reading and listening, and level C1 in writing and speaking.
    • Continuously assess and maintain that linguistic knowledge.
    • Transmit a message expressed in another language, orally or in writing, all the while respecting the intention, the target audience, the linguistic register and the objectives of the original language and message.
  • Cultural and Intercultural Competency - Utilise intercultural knowledge in order to understand, analyse, and contextualise in the practice of translation.
    • Be familiar with the political, social and cultural environment of the working language and the chosen foreign languages, as well as a sustained effort to keep abreast of all new developments in those areas.
    • Be able to recognise the socio-cultural components underlying an oral or written text.
    • Analyse the assumptions, implicit or explicit, allusions, stereotypes and intertextuality of any oral or written document.

  • Specific language proficiency in the foreign language - Using the foreign language in a classroom context
    • Determine and master the role of the teacher within the framework of the educational and school systems.
    • Use the communicational and relational competences required in the teaching profession.
    • Set up and implement educational, learning, and assessment strategies within the framework of the reference programmes, and with the pupils in the classroom.
    • Include the theoretical principles of pedagogy and didactics in their professional practices and to take a critical stance towards the latter.
    • Adopt a strategy of lifelong learning in order to explore new pedagogical, field-related, and technological approaches and tools and to evolve within the educational and social environments.
    • Interact with ease in the foreign language, both orally and in writing, with a high degree of grammatical accuracy.
    • Adapt resources and instructions in the foreign language to the learner's level of language proficiency.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, students should be able to:- define specific learning objectives according to predefined broader objectives;- select relevant resources that focus on those objectives;- use a resource for learning activities and to motivate their instructional options;- integrate the activities in a coherent learning sequence.
