Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
    • Understand, reformulate and summarise documents and presentations, in French, on various topics written by experts, including those related to current affairs
  • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
    • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used
    • Give a critique of the studied literature

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the course, students will have been trained in the techniques of expression and reformulation in French. This training will concentrate on the written and oral language and will aim as much to the correction of the expression as to its fluidity. It will build in particular on the teaching of theoretical concepts from the fields of discourse analysis and lexicology.    

Content of UE

Exercises of reformulation to the writing and the oral examination
Analyses and paraphrases
Familiarization with the concepts of linguistic norm and variation
Application of the concepts of lexicology and discourse analysis to the activities of comprehension and production
Training in self-evaluation and self-correction
