      Objectives of general skills

      • Instruct an architectural issue

      UE's Learning outcomes

      At the end of this course, students will be able to :
      Understand that the process of architectural composition is a global and complex approach in three dimensions of systematic type.
      Create personal and creative projects which answer problems connected to "dense settlement" programmes.
      Implement contextual solutions to problems posed.
      Develop, on the basis of the project programmes, a reflection on the relevance of urban, suburban or rural models regarding density, size, prospects, socioeconomic components, management of the common, public and private spaces, accessibility to buildings for the mobility-impaired, the development of soft mobility, the economy of the resources and the ground, the durability, eco-construction, etc.
      Master the relationship between public and private spaces and create conditions of sharing.
      Produce architectural forms adequate to the programme context. Restore and apply previous experiences regarding architectural composition of housing (layout, sizing, orientation, sunshine, vertical circulations, etc.).
      Master the conventions of architectural drawing and the means of representation and expression of graphic communication.
      Develop an argument by using vocabulary and terms of architectural language.
      Support their « bias » using analysed references.
      Practice interpersonal communication adapted to every context.
      Manage, or work in, a team.
      Be a responsible and autonomous person.

      UE Content

      Investigate housing environments by questioning the management of vacant spaces, the landscape and, in a general way, city and country planning.

      Analyse a specific context and produce a preliminary study which can lead to the formulation of a diagnosis.

      Introduce the questioning of architectural attitudes through the stakes and the problems of city and country planning regarding sustainable development and concerning the current regulations in the Walloon Region.
