Programme component

Learning Outcomes of UE

This programme will enable the students to have a critical understanding of documents of various kinds on learning and classroom management strategies. Students will be able to criticize them in the light of the course framework (evidence-based education and effective teaching). In particular, they will be able to determine whether or not the strategies proposed by the documents analysed are based on evidence (i.e. on some form of scientific proof and not on intuition, beliefs, etc.). They will also be able to write an explicit instruction lesson plan.

P-SEEF-087This learning activity takes the form of a seminar. The students' contribution is evaluated during the seminar, notably through the presentation, by groups of students, of "educational media" (scientific articles / articles published in professional journals / books / book chapters / lectures / video capsules / pedagogical tools / manuals...) and their argumentative discussion as well as through a short written synthesis. The seminar is organized only once a year. (50%)
P-SEEF-089As a complement to the seminar, students write, in groups of 3 or 4 students, a paper based on data collected by the students. Each student in the group is asked to interview a teacher, following a methodology (interview and/or questionnaire) provided by the lecturer, about their learning and classroom management practices and the elements on which they base their choice of practices. The group then analyzes the data collected in relation to the framework discussed during the course (evidence-based education and effective learning and classroom management strategies). This work takes the form of a written document of no more than 10 pages, including the bibliography. (50%)
