Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
understand the principles of building mechanical constitutive laws for geomaterials;
identify the behaviour of a rock submitted to mechanical stresses both in atmospheric and under confining conditions;
measure the mechanical and physical properties.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
describing the rock as a porous medium composed of a solid skeleton and fluids;
defining stress and strain concepts;
building constitutive laws;
presentation of different constitutive laws for rocks: linear elasticity, visco-elasticity, poro-elasticity, failure and plasticity;
application to social and environmental challenges;
behaviour in destructibility;
laboratory tests principles;
extension of lab measured characteristics to rock masses by their description, in situ tests and determination of quality indexes of rock masses.
Prior Experience
Stress and strain notions;
mechanical behaviour laws for continuous media;
knowledge of rocks and rock masses;
physical measuring techniques and instrumentation.

I-GMIN-001 | Total weight of the course: 3 credits An interrogation is organised in December concerning the exercises part of the course. Duration: 2h. Authorized material: formulas, calculator. Weight : 30%. The exam dealing with the theoretical part is weighted 70%. It is organised without any documentation and is composed of two parts: a general question to be prepared in form of a written dissertation (45%) and an oral discussion (25%). All students prepare the same general question for about one hour. The oral part consists in customised questions that deal with all the content of the course. |
