Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Identify and acquire the information and skills needed to solve the problem
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in arts, science, engineering and construction to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering sciences and construction
    • Select and thoroughly apply knowledge, methods and tools in arts, sciences, engineering sciences and construction to solve problems involving these disciplines
  • Complete an architecture project, individually or as part of a team
    • Analyse and characterise complex problems in the field of architecture by adopting a scientific, heuristic, hermeneutic, systemic and transdisciplinary approach which integrates ethical, cultural, human, economic, technological and environmental contexts and issues
  • Communicate in a structured way - visually, orally and in writing, in French and English - giving clear, accurate, and reasoned information
    • Argue to and persuade a project owner, teachers and a board orally, with visual aids and in writing
    • Use several methods of written and graphic communication: text, tables, equations, sketches, maps, graphs, etc.
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and independence throughout their studies
    • Identify the different fields and participants in architectural engineering
    • Develop scientific and cultural curiosity and open-mindedness
    • Learn to use various resources made available to inform and train independently

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, the student will have acquired notions allowing him/her to
- Know the various theories of heritage conservation. 
- To judge the interest of a heritage property.
- Apply the various theoretical principles.
- To take a critical look at contemporary achievements in the existing. 

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

This teaching unit consists of the AA "creating in the created", and an architectural trip that will illustrate the principles seen in the course during visits of emblematic buildings in the history of architecture and/or interventions in the existing.
