UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Notion of probability; combinatorial analysis; conditional probability; Bayes' theorem; notion of random variable; discrete and continuous probability distributions; expectation and moments; marginal and conditional distributions; covariance; correlation; independence; probabilistic algorithms
Descriptive statistics; inferential statistics; empirical mean and variance and their distribution; hypothesis testing; first and second chances; power of a test; p-value; comparison of population means; estimation theory; maximum likelihood method; introduction to statistical learning; bias-variance equilibrium; simple and multiple linear regression; logistic regression
