Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Communicate effectively. Communicate and exchange information in a structured and adapted way to the intended purpose and relevant public.
    • Present (orally and in writing) the results of an intervention (study, analysis, investigation, etc.) to adequately inform a target audience.
  • Have a willingness to keep learning. Assess and pursue professional and personal development.
    • Monitor knowledge and methodological approaches in order to evolve their thinking and practice.
  • Adopt a scientific approach. Master the scientific approaches in language sciences.
    • Appropriately apply different scientific research methods.
    • Collect data and thoroughly analyse it qualitatively and quantitatively.
    • Adequately interpret results taking into account the reference framework within which the research was developed.
  • Gender Studies : adopt a specialist approach. Master concepts, theories, methodologies, and controversies to conduct research taking "gender" into account.
    • Master the relationships between gender, communication, history, language, literature, philosophy, and sociology.
  • Critical Analysis of Discourse : adopt a specialist approach. Master the concepts, techniques, methods, and devices specific to Critical Analysis of Discourse.
    • Critically analyse the language used in discourse, and identify the issues and effects of these linguistic choices.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the term of this training students will be able (cf. recruitment examination FWBI) : to read, analyze and understand texts from writers of Belgian extraction, from 1830 to our days, to locate and discuss their specificities (or absence of specificities), to identify the literary or artistic movement an author belongs to, to locate artists in a historical, national and European environment, to reflect on the conditions of emergence (diffusion, translation) of a French-speaking literature in Belgium. They will eventually be able to compare an original text in French and its translation.
