    • Master basic speech signal analysis techniques.
    • Master research methodologies in speech sciences.
    • Master the basic concepts of phonetics.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the instruction, the students will master the fundamental notions in clinical phonetics, i.e. (i) in general phonetics, the anatomical, articulatory, acoustic and aerodynamic aspects of the various sub-systems involved in speech production (respiratory, phonatory and articulatory sub-systems), as well as the acoustic, auditory and perceptual aspects of the subsystems involved in speech production (mainly, the auditory system and the nervous system); (ii) the clinical parameters allowing to document and assess speech production and speech perception, with a particular focus on the data collection and analysis procedures that are commonly used in speech disorders; (iii) the speech disorders associated with each of the subsystems resulting from a variety of etiologies (functional description, nature of the disorders, etc.)

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Subsystems involved in the production and perception of speech (general phonetics reminders, methodological reminders; clinical parameters for an evaluation in clinical phonetics; associated disorders; clinical cases): - respiratory system; - phonatory system; - articulatory system; - auditory and perceptual system. Overall characteristics of speech sounds.
