Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
    • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used

Learning Outcomes of UE

By the end of this course, students will be able to manage a comprehensive translation project and the associated resources (translation memories, terminology databases, machine translation) using several types of CAT tools. They will also be able to implement localisation and transcreation principles, and to use interpreting-related technologies.
 

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Hands-on sessions consisting of CAT tool use, theoretical presentations and practical exercises related to these theoretical contents (use of several types of CAT tools, document alignment, creation of terminology databases, MT integration, localisation and transcreation). Panel discussions about translation technologies. Collective projects carried out during teaching sessions or at home.
 

Prior Experience

Ability to use fundamental computer tools (BAB2 class).
