Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
    • Understand, reformulate and summarise documents and presentations, in French, on various topics written by experts, including those related to current affairs
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
    • Develop knowledge in various fields, in particular those aimed at by translation activities
  • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
    • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
    • Reformulate, summarise, translate or interpret a document of general interest written or presented orally in a foreign language into French
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used
    • Give a critique of the studied literature

Learning Outcomes of UE

T-ITAL-500 Traduction de la langue étrangère vers le français (10578)
At the end of the 1st block of the Master in Translation, students will be able to :
- understand the difficulties of translating a text of general interest and carry out the documentary and terminological research necessary to resolve them
- translate general texts accurately in writing in French that is correct and adapted to the register of the source text
- translate or summarise general texts orally, without errors of meaning and at a rate comparable to normal speech.

T-ITAL-500 Traduction de la langue étrangère vers le français (10578)
Translation of general texts exploring the Italian and foreign news, contemporary socio-economic, financial, cultural and societal aspects. A mix of written translations and translation initiation into custody.
