Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
    • Understand, reformulate and summarise documents and presentations, in French, on various topics written by experts, including those related to current affairs
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Develop knowledge in various fields, in particular those aimed at by translation activities
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, students will be familiar with different techniques and theories of analysis useful in translation and interpretation. Analyses of texts from literary and non-literary corpus: semantic, argumentative and stylistic analyses. The texts analyzed will broaden the general culture and exercise critical reflection.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Analysis of texts, argumentation (80 arguments/ logical articulations/aims of argumentation/argumentative structure), stylistic devices in argumentative texts.
