Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Be familiar with codes and conventions of other cultures for the sake of interpersonal relationships
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used
    • Give a critique of the studied literature

Learning Outcomes of UE

Culture/Institutions : At the end of this learning activity, students will be able to : - identify, place and describe significant cultural events as a native speaker would (literature, Fine Arts, political economic and social organisation, judicial system, etc.) ; - carry out competent and accurate research on these subjects ; - report on their methodology and research. Language : Upon completion of the language courses of the third module, students will have a good command of the foreign language at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students will be able to : - understand texts in which the writers adopt particuar stances or viewpoints as well as contemporay fiction wirks ; follow complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar ; understand current affairs programmes and films in standard dialect ; - interact with native speakers ; - produce clear, detailes texts on a wide range of familiar subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue.  

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Culture/Institutions : Familiarization with culture and literature. Presentation of the organisation of the political, judicial and social systems, as well as of important social activities (education, media, etc.). Personal work and research. Language : Critical analysis of genuine audio-visual documents and varied texts. Oral and written exercices. Emphasis on interaction with native speakers and on intercultural skills (preparation for linguistic immersion during the 2nd term).
