Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
    • Understand, reformulate and summarise documents and presentations, in French, on various topics written by experts, including those related to current affairs
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this learning, students will be able to apply a variety of note-taking techniques specific to interpreting and to rephrase, orally, informative speeches and, in writing, argumentative texts. They will have been introduced to the etymology, idiomatic expressions and derivation of words in French. They will also have been made aware of the use of punctuation, and of the various forms and methods of indirect discourse.
 

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Elements of lexicology and derivation. Exercises on idiomatic expressions and punctuation. Written exercises in writing and reformulation to prepare for the synthesis of texts.

Prior Experience

Knowledge of French level B2.
