Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
    • Be proficient in another foreign language
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
    • Be familiar with codes and conventions of other cultures for the sake of interpersonal relationships
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied

Learning Outcomes of UE

PART A
At the end of this AA, students will be able to :
- read and understand short and simple texts about common and concrete topics ;
- identify standard letters on familiar topics and understand short and simple personal letters ;
- find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements and prospectuses ;
- identify relevant information in simple written samples (letters, short newspaper articles describing facts).

PART B

At the end of this AA, students will be able to :
- read and understand short and simple texts about common and concrete topics ;
- identify standard letters on familiar topics and understand short and simple personal letters ;
- find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements and prospectuses ;
- identify relevant information in simple written samples (letters, short newspaper articles describing facts).
- write about everyday aspects of their environment (family, living conditions, educational background, etc.) with simple phrases and sentences linked with simple connectors ;
- write short descriptions of events, past activities and personal experiences;
- write short imaginary biographies.
- describe in simple terms aspects of their background and immediate environment;
- tell a simple story of give a short description;
- describe plans, everyday activities, past actions and personal experiences;
- give a short, rehearsed presentation on a topic pertinent to their everyday life and cope with straightforward follow up questions.

Commented reading of factual texts and structural activities 
Class activities centred on the description, narration and expression of personal opinions in familiar and predictable situations using a simple and functional, reasonably correct language. Structural and lexical exercises (functional usage of common phrases and expressions). Writing exercises.
