Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes of UE

The general objective is to commit the student to devote a significant part of his work to the elaboration of his dissertation as soon as he enters the Master program. The supervision proposed in this context should lead the student to identify the specific question(s) he/she wishes to address, the theoretical and/or methodological framework in which it/they fit, and the way in which this/these question(s) should be addressed.
The specific objectives are as follows:
o To formulate a problematic in a sufficiently precise manner and to have evaluated its relevance.
o To consult the literature related to one's subject in a sufficiently extensive manner and to describe it in depth, using the sources in an analytical perspective and confronting in a structured manner the results of the research deemed appropriate in order to develop a personal thread, a specific problematic, leading to research questions and hypotheses.
o Have a first idea of the methodology in relation to the research questions.
o Have estimated the feasibility of this methodology (including the ethical aspects).

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

The UE dissertation part 1 consists in the realization of a personal work of research leading to the realization of a (project of) dissertation. It is a theoretical work on a theme chosen with a promoter. The dissertation UE part 1 is a prerequisite for the dissertation UE part 2.
This UE is co-managed by ULB, ULiège and UMONS. Therefore, beyond the proposed transversal structure, autonomy is left to each of the promoters, according to the measures in force in their institution of reference, to further define the provisions included.
