The learning outcomes targeted are : To cite and appropriate the legal frameworks, ethical and deontological principles that govern research and practice in speech therapy; to implement them in a reflective manner.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

(1) Firstly, we will present the code of ethics and deontology of speech therapy (https://www.inami.fgov.be/fr), the framework of the profession of speech therapy (currently defined by the Royal Decree of 20/10/1994) as well as elements relating to the rights of the patient in connection with the profession (law of 22/08/2002). In connection with this, the students will also receive information about the rules of the INAMI regarding the steps to be taken as a speech therapist in order to obtain reimbursement for his patients.
(2) In a second phase, the students will interview a speech therapist in the field, in order to know how she understands the ethical and deontological code and how she applies it in her professional practice. In addition, they will have to propose a fictitious situation involving a situation from the code of ethics, in order to gather her reflections in light of her professional experience. Finally, the students will have to demonstrate personal reflection and present their point of view in relation to the interview, make links with the code of ethics and deontology and develop a reflection on the importance of this code in the profession of speech and language therapy.
