Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in psychology and educational sciences to analyse a situation involving these disciplines
    • Identify and explain the concepts, principles and models of fundamental theoretical trends in psychology and educational sciences and their applications
    • Identify and describe the biological and socio-cultural foundations of human behaviour
    • Explain and give examples of human functioning, including in its atypical and pathological dimensions
  • Provide clear, accurate, and reasoned information
    • Summarise the contributions of different sources to justify an opinion or decision
    • Provide information (both orally and in writing) regarding the fields of psychology and educational sciences in an intelligible manner, with a good command of the language communication techniques.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, students will be able (a) to understand and develop an in-depth reflexion on scientific models related to child and adolescent clinical psychology from a developmental (i.e., lifespan development/family life cycle), processual (i.e., intra- and interpersonal processes and socio-constructivism), multi-dimensional (i.e., behavioural, motivational, emotional, cognitive aspects) and integrative (e.g., attachment-based and behavioural aspects) and (b) to understand clinical case studies (e.g., the influence of child's temperament on parental practices).

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

- Developmental approach: goodness-of-fit, developmental trajectory of psychological difficulties
  - Developmental challenge of 0 - 3 years old children: sleep management
  - Developmental challenge of adolescents: identity development
- Process approach:
  - Intrapersonal processses: temperament, personality and emotion regulation
  - Interpersonal processes: Family relations, parents-child relations, siblings relations and friendship
- Multi-dimensional approach: behavioural, motivational, emotional and cognitive aspects
