Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • 1. Pharmaceutical expertise: Use a foundation of concepts and knowledge in health sciences and pharmaceutical sciences.
    • Understand and integrate the fundamental sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, botany) involved in the specific fields of pharmaceutical sciences
    • Understand and apply mathematical translations of large models and chemical and/or biological phenomena through abstract reasoning
    • Understand the chronology of a phenomenon and master the time scales and their representations
  • 2. Scientific method: Solve pharmaceutical problems using their knowledge and critical mind.
    • Understand and apply the basic principles of reasoning (obtaining data, analysis, synthesis, comparison, the rule of three, syllogism, analogy, Boolean logic, etc.)
    • Develop a critical, practical and analytical mind
    • Develop and rigorously manage an experimental protocol (from information gathering to the production, interpretation and presentation of results).
  • 3. Communication: Communicate in an appropriate, efficient, rigorous and respectful way in a professional perspective.
    • Understand the basic rules of French and of English (grammar, punctuation, connectors, etc.).
    • Use a rich vocabulary linking concepts and words accurately
    • Summarise, explain, and argue
    • Work in a team
    • Share knowledge and information
  • 4. Sense of responsibility: Act ethically and professionally.
    • Respect the diversity of gender, culture and opinion
    • Show loyalty and scientific honesty (in teamwork and in respecting the results and the work of others)
  • 5. Quality: Assess themself, expand their knowledge and adapt their attitude.
    • Manage time
    • Prioritise
    • Locate scientific information efficiently
    • Compare different sources of information

Learning Outcomes of UE

Description of the matter : the first model of atom, the quantum model of atom, the electronic structure , the wave model,  the periodic table, the chemical bond , the chemical bonding in the wave model, the geometry of covalent assemblies
Intermolecular interactions
Introduction to thermodynamics and  chemical kinetics
Acid-base equilibria, pH
oxidation-reduction equilibria.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

To provide an accurate description of the structure of matter and make use of all the physico-chemical laws (kinetic and thermodynamic) which describe chemical changes.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE assessment

  • Written examination - Face-to-face
  • Graded assignment(s) - Face-to-face

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

The exam at the end of Q1 is a written exam based principally on exercises, in order to evaluate the understanding of the course. The mark of this exam represents 80% of the global mark, the remaining 20% corresponding to the mark of the practical works. The mark of the practical works is obtained during the Q1 and is composed for 50% of the marks attributed to the reports of each manipulation, and for 50% of the mark obtained at the laboratory exam taking place at the end of Q1.

Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q1 UE assessment

Global mark = (0.8* mark of the written examination) + (0.2* global mark of the practical work). The participation to at least 50% of the practical work is mandatory to pass the exam.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE resit assessment (BAB1)

  • Written examination - Face-to-face

Q1 UE Resit Assessment Comments (BAB1)

The exam is a written exam based principally on exercises, in order to evaluate the understanding of the course. The mark of this exam represents 80% of the global mark, the remaining 20% corresponding to the mark of the practical works.

Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q1 UE resit assessment

Global mark = (0.8* mark of the written examination) + (0.2* global mark of the practical work). The participation to at least 50% of the practical work is mandatory to pass the exam.
Caution, the mark of parctical works obtained during Q1 will remain unchanged ; there is no possibility to present again the tests concerning the practical works.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q3 UE assessment

  • Written examination - Face-to-face

Q3 UE Assessment Comments

The exam of Q3 is a written exam based principally on exercises, in order to evaluate the understanding of the course. The mark of this exam represents 80% of the global mark, the remaining 20% corresponding to the mark of the practical works.

Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q3 UE assessment

Global mark = (0.8* mark of the written examination) + (0.2* global mark of the practical work). The participation to at least 50% of the practical work is mandatory to pass the exam.
Caution, the mark of parctical works obtained during Q1 will remain unchanged ; there is no possibility to present again during Q3 the tests concerning the practical works.
