Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • 1. Pharmaceutical expertise: Use a foundation of concepts and knowledge in health sciences and pharmaceutical sciences.
    • Understand and integrate the fundamental sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, botany) involved in the specific fields of pharmaceutical sciences
    • Understand and apply mathematical translations of large models and chemical and/or biological phenomena through abstract reasoning
    • Understand and use different graphical representations of numerical values and their relationships
    • Perceive spatial distribution, and understand two- and three-dimensional representations and interconvert them
  • 2. Scientific method: Solve pharmaceutical problems using their knowledge and critical mind.
    • Understand and apply the basic principles of reasoning (obtaining data, analysis, synthesis, comparison, the rule of three, syllogism, analogy, Boolean logic, etc.)
    • Develop a critical, practical and analytical mind
    • Manage doubt and uncertainty
    • Develop and rigorously manage an experimental protocol (from information gathering to the production, interpretation and presentation of results).
  • 3. Communication: Communicate in an appropriate, efficient, rigorous and respectful way in a professional perspective.
    • Understand the basic rules of French and of English (grammar, punctuation, connectors, etc.).
    • Use a rich vocabulary linking concepts and words accurately
    • Summarise, explain, and argue
    • Work in a team
  • 4. Sense of responsibility: Act ethically and professionally.
    • Show loyalty and scientific honesty (in teamwork and in respecting the results and the work of others)

Learning Outcomes of UE

The student will have refined his knowledge in general physics (mechanics, fluids, optics, waves, electromagnetism and modern physics). He will understand the physical principles involved in different biological or biomedical applications as biomechanics, blood flow, elasticity, hearing and vision, nerve impulses and biomedical imaging.
Finally he will be able to develop a scientific method, perform simple experiments, analyze experimental results, to estimate an error and to realize and interpret a graph.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

See contents of AA 101, 102 and 105

Prior Experience

Elementary notions of physics and mathematics.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE assessment

  • Written examination - Face-to-face

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Evaluation based on the evaluations of AA 101 and 102.  The theory of AA 101 and 102 will be tested through a global written assesment organized during the exam period. In case of justified absence, if a new assesment is organized, it could be an oral assesment.

Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q1 UE assessment

The UE is on Q1 and Q2, so the rating is only informational. The weighting is
-85% for the examination on the theoretical lessons of AA 101 and 102,
-10% for the written examination concerning the practical works of AA 102,
-5% for the lab reports of AA 102.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE resit assessment (BAB1)

  • Written examination - Face-to-face

Q1 UE Resit Assessment Comments (BAB1)

New written examination on the theory of AA 101 and 102.

Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q1 UE resit assessment

The teaching is on Q1 and Q2 => see the calculation method of Q2.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q2 UE assessment

  • Written examination - Face-to-face

Q2 UE Assessment Comments

Evaluation based on the evaluations of AA 101, 102 and 105. The theory of AA 105 will be tested through a global written assesment organized during the exam period. The rating concerning the theory of AA 101 and 102 is the one obtained during the Q1 exam period or the one obtained at the rattrapage Q1 exam if the student takes this rattrapage exam. In case of justified absence of a student at the written assesment, if a new assesment is organized, it could be an oral assesment.

Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q2 UE assessment

The weighting is
-85% for the examination on the theoretical lessons of AA 101, 102 and 105,
-10% for the written examinations concerning the practical works of AA 102 and AA 105,
-5% for the lab reports of AA 102 and AA 105.

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q3 UE assessment

  • Written examination - Face-to-face

Q3 UE Assessment Comments

Evaluation based on the evaluations of AA 101, 102 and 105. The theory of AA 101, 102 and 105 will be tested through a new global written assesment organized during the exam period. In case of justified absence of a student at the written assesment, if a new assesment is organized, it could be an oral assesment.

Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q3 UE assessment

The weighting is
-85% for the written examination on the theoretical lessons of AA 101, 102 and 105,
-10% for the written examination concerning the practical works of AA 102 and 105, the Q1 and Q2 ratings are maintained,
-5% for the lab reports of AA 102 and 105, the Q1 and Q2 rating is maintained.
