Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Implement an engineering approach dealing with a set problem taking into account technical, economic and environmental constraints
    • Understand the stages of an engineering approach
    • Implement a chosen solution in the form of a drawing, a schema, a plan, a model, a prototype, software and/or digital model
  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in science and engineering to solve problems involving these disciplines
    • Identify, describe and explain the basic principles of engineering particularly in their specialising field
  • Collaborate, work in a team
    • Interact effectively with other students to carry out collaborative projects.

Learning Outcomes of UE

know the topographic instruments and their use;
choose field methods for topographic surveying;
select computational procedures and methods for data presentation.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

basic cartography. Distance measurement, levelling, angle and direction measurement, traverse computations, computations for a closed traverse, computations for a closed-loop traverse, adjustments, radial surveys, methods of determining areas, triangulations and trilaterations, mapping and map drafting, route surveys, construction surveys, land surveys, introduction to photogrammetric methods and GPS.

Prior Experience

Technical prerequisite: elementary plane geometry, analytic geometry, vector analysis, algebra, matrices computations, trigonometry, knowledge of optical systems and of ondulatory physics.
Behaviour prerequisites: capacity for abstraction and for innovation, power of concentration, aptitude for precision measurements.
