Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Introduction to a critical approach towards the media, in studying the main theories and analysing the contemporary stakes and debates. The aim of the course is to provide the students with the means to develop an analytical and reflective approach towards to the place, the role and the influence of the media on society.
Content of UE
This Sociology of the Media (Sociologie des médias) course is designed as an introduction to the critical approach of the media through the analysis of the main theoretical, mainly sociological, bodies of research that have marked the study of mass communication since the 1930s. This course also proposes to analyze some of the main contemporary issues and debates on media, based on recent scientific research.
