Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this learning, students will be able to critique and comment on a literary translation, to make a comparison of various translations of the same literary work and define the choices made by the translators. They will also be able to propose, in a creative way, the corrections to improve an unfinished literary translation in respect of the stylistice qualities of the text.
Content of UE
Textual criticism and correction of literary drafts of translations ; comparison of published translations of works of 19th and 20th century European Literature ; exercises on particular issues (presentation of dialogues, use of translator's note, etc.); reflection on the evolution of the stylistic and esthetic standards in literary translations.
