Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

Understand the fundamentals (theories and tools) in human and social sciences

Understand the social environment and the way it works, as well as the role played by different social, economic and political agents
Analyse historical and contemporary phenomena of societies.

Information-Communication option: Understand the fundamentals in the field of information-communication

Master the communication tools of an organisation and the professional techniques of journalism.
Develop a critical approach towards the main issues and outcomes in the field of information and communication.
Analyse social messages, particularly media messages.

Communicate in a clear, structured and justified manner on issues related to human and social sciences

Demonstrate analytical skills.

Apply transferable skills, such as analysis and critical thinking, thoroughness, independence, and teamwork

Demonstrate a critical mind, ethical values and independent judgment issues of human and social sciences.

Learning Outcomes of UE

Content of UE

The aim of the course Introduction à l'information journalistique is to introduce the students to the world of journalistic information and help them to understand the main contemporary issues and debates on journalism, from a socio-historical perspective. At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the process of the production and treatment of the news and understand the constraints linked to the evolutions in working conditions of the professional group. They will be asked to adopt a critical view of the logic behind the production and consumption of journalistic information. Finally, the objective of this course is to introduce students to the basics of journalistic expression and writing. Based on a variety of examples from the news media, the course details the main techniques used in journalistic production.
