Content of Learning Activity
The class is divided into three lessons: i) Criticizing tradition; ii) Deconstructing development; iii) socio anthropology of social change and development. Development is seen as an example of the articulation between tradition and modernity and the anthropology of development as a scientific response given by the social sciences to address the development phenomenon. Students are asked to read, and later comment, papers illustrating the contents tackled during the classes. Those readings are completed with two documentaries dealing with development issues that are presented during the classes.
