Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
This UE first covers teaching social security and social law. At the end of this course, the students will be capable of beginning their professional life by having a tool of simple and effective understanding of the main questions of labour law and social security in connection with the life of companies. This UE also covers teaching employment policy. At the end of this course, students will be able :
- to get a global insight on how to understand European employment;
- to classify and deal with different active labour market policies that can be performed in order to improve employment;
- to analyse how these policies can have an impact by either favouring firms wishes to hire workers, job search incentives from labour suppliers and the matching process between both sides of the labour market;
- to tackle the evaluation of these policies, which can further serve for policy makers;
- to deal with a special labour market policy issue (case study)
Content of UE
This UE first covers teaching social security and social law, whose contents are the following :
- individual and collective law of the work;
- status of the self employed people;
- notions of social security and social criminal law. This UE also covers teaching employment policy, which contains :
- basic theoretical concepts to labour policy analysis;
- main factors, including those under the control of policy makers and/or refering to specific labour market institutional features, to explain the empirical evidence and evolution from European employment;
- role that labour market policies can play;
- evaluation of their effects.

Q1 UE Assessment Comments
The oral examination of social security and social law contains two parts : the first one consisting in presenting to the choice a part of the course with a plan allowing to structure the presentation and a second part consisting in a general question on another part of the course. As regards employment policy, students are evaluated on their theoretical abilities through a written examination, and on their ability to analyse a specific case study related to labour market policy through a written essay and an oral presentation.
