At the end of the immersion activities, students will be able to:
- apply their linguistic and (inter)cultural skills in the natural environment of one of their chosen languages of specialization ;
- show proof of their capacity for integration, either through successful completion of a formal study program at a partner university located in a foreign country or region, or through a two-fold set of activities consisting of (1) a formal immersion internship in a company or other host organisation where the foreign language is the main vehicle for communication, and (2) additional immerrsion-approximate activites as assigned during the same semester.

Content of UE

There are two possible formats for this module:

- either the student undertakes a term of enrolment at a partner university located in a foreign country or region, the content of which is established by agreement with the host university in the form of a Learning Agreement;

- or the student undertakes a two-fold set of activities consisting of:
(1) a formal immersion internship (300 hours at least), in Belgium or a neighbouring country, established by formal agreement, in a company or other host organisation where the foreign language is the main vehicle for communication, followed by the presentation oand oral defense of an internship report;  and
2) one or more additional immerrsion-approximate activites (400 hours minimum). the details of these activities will be agreed upon in advance by the student and a representative of the department of the language in which the internship is to be carried out.

NOTE: The study-abroad placement is strongly encouraged.  The internship option is a last resort alternative for the student who is unable to travel abroad for legitimate and verifiable reasons.
