Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Understand, reformulate and summarise documents and presentations, in French, on various topics written by experts, including those related to current affairs
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
  • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
    • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, students will be able to create complexe documents with a word procesing software, a spreadsheet software and a slide show presentation software, to manage IT terminology resources and use a word-processing-integrated CAT tools, to manage IT terminology resources ;
to identify,depending on translators, specialists in translation and the time they live in, who the translators actually are; what kind of difficulties or problems they faced, what methods, principles, types of translation (written and oral) and evaluations they practiced over time, to compare different theories of translation, illustrated in their historical, practical, human and philosophical aspects. 

Content of UE

Software, IT terminology resources, word-procesing integrated CAT tools.
History of translation and interpretation; biography of translators; translation's methods and theories.
