Prérequis

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Put English language skills and skills of at least one other language other than French into practice.
    • Read and understand the overall meaning of non-specialised texts, listen and understand the overall meaning of audio documents.
    • Write an information request, a summary and analysis of texts and videos, and an exchange in dialogue form.
    • Express an opinion on a subject, orally and in writing, as well as on topical issues within ideological debates, carry out an oral presentation on a topic related to the specialised field.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the top of this level, the students will be able to use the skills developed in the first and second years and improve their communicative skills (writing as well as speaking skills); voice personal opinions on topical matters ; give an effective professional presentation on an SHS-related topic (at level B1+ or Advanced) ; take part in a debate on an SHS-related topic; use the specific structures and vocabulary to write formal reports on, summarize and analyse, press articles and videos; at level B1+ or advanced. They will also be prepared to take the TOEIC test (listening and reading parts). 

Content of UE

Reading and commenting on various texts, documentaries and articles published in the English and American media and professional talks; Revising and using the structures which are typical of the English language (the passive, modal verbs, etc); Discussions and conversation tables; Oral presentations based on press files. TOEIC preparation (listening and reading skills).

Oral exam based on a written press file: 70% of the grade obtained for Part 1 + Active participation and written assignment: 30% of the grade obtained for Part 1 Grade obtained for Part I= 50% of the final grade obtained for the UE

Written exam: official TOEIC test (reading and listening) : 100% of the grade obtained for Part II Grade obtained for Part II= 50% of the final grade of the UE
