    Content of Learning Activity

This project is a reverse engineering exercise, namely the in depth study of the manufacturing techniques of a mechanical part chosen by the student in a batch of parts offered by local companies. Each student analyzes the part that he has chosen. The students are, generally, involved in individual projects, however they are invited to participate in thematic working groups (sand casting, permanent mold casting, die casting, investment casting; turning, milling, ...) under the guidance of members of the staff.

The project is carried out in two steps:
    - Step 1: dimensional measurements, identification of the material, 3D modeling of the part, drafting of the manufacturing drawings, definition of the manufacturing processes. Deliverables: preliminary report and preliminary drbers of the staffawings
    - Step 2: visit to the company that provided the part or equivalent activity, detailed manufacturing sequences of operations, tooling design (molds, dies, workholding fixtures), cutting tool and machining parameters selection, g-code generation. Deliverables: final report and final drawings.
