Organisational online arrangements for the end of Q3 2019-2020 assessments (Covid-19)
    • Oral exam (questions and answers, presentation of individual or group work, comment and argument about a written text...)
Description of the modifications to the Q3 2019-2020 online assessment procedures (Covid-19)
Oral examination oriented towards applications requesting to master the theoritical concepts of the course and the models developed during the practical sessions.
The examination is an on-line examination that is organised in a synchronous way, individually (one student at a time), via TEAMS (provided to the students by UMONS).

    Content of Learning Activity

Use of finite elements models for manufacturing processes simulation: non-linear finite element, material constitutive models for manufacturing processes modeling, damage modeling.
Application to various manufacturing techniques: forming at the solid state, machining by removal of chips.
Software (all-purpose and specialized) used in modeling of manufacturing processes.
Other numerical methods to model machining processes and applications: discretization methods with mesh (ALE, CEL), meshless methods, use of mechanistic approach and macroscopic simulation.

The course is closely linked to the state of the art to which the Machine Design and Production Engineering Lab contributes with its research in the field.
