Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the instruction, the learners will have integrated their knowledge of linguistic mechanisms to the various forms of interpreting and will have developed their discursive and interactional competences.

Content of UE

The main objective is for the learner to identify the speakers' communicative, discursive and interactional strategies so as to be true to them when interpreting. In this aim, the learner will be able to $ define the concept of interaction, understand the co-building of a conversation and identify the referential contents and the relational elements of an interaction $ identify conversation structures (turns, sequences, utterances) $ establish a link between language and communication situation $ identify speech acts $ make a difference between what is said and what is communicated and be aware of the inferential mechanisms at play in the course of the interpretation of an utterance $ identify the strategies inherent to linguistic politeness $ identify the interpersonal value of discourse markers $ be able to grasp the dialogical dimension of an intercation $ identify the dialectic and rhetorical  argumentative strategies.
