Content of Learning Activity
Theoretical basic concepts related to the notions of culture (definition, characteristics, functions, structural models...) and cultural diversity (origin of the concept, dimensions of cultures, models of cultural analysis of societies, diversity issues).
Theoretical concepts related to cultural contacts, intergroup relations and the management of the cultural diversity (multicultural model, intercultural model), issues related to migration and changes in cultural diversity.
Approaches to the links between cultures and behaviors (cross-cultural psychology, cultural psychology, intercultural psychology); ecocultural model (Berry et al.), cultural transmission process, models of cultural adaptation strategies (Berry, Camilleri), model of interactive acculturation (Bourhis et al.).
Intercultural development (cultural shock and interculturality) and developmental models of the cultural relativism (Lavalée), the reconstruction of the cultural otherness (Bredendiek & Krewer), the intercultural sensitivity (Bennett)…
Cultural diversity, work and organization: logic of actions of the diversity management within a company or an organization; legal requirements (anti-discrimination law); principles, risks and benefits of diversity management; intercultural approach of the interpersonal relationships in the workplace, intercultural skills.
