Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Reformulate, summarise, translate or interpret a document of general interest written or presented orally in a foreign language into French
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Give a critique of the studied literature

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the 3rd block, students will be able to:
- broadly comprehend a text or a simple speech in Chinese;
- highlight their structure and logical links so as to be able to follow the line of argument developed by the speaker;
- render them in correct French under the form of a short summary or full translation;
- render them in a communicative way at appropriate speed. Students will be able to:
- bring out the logical structure of a general text, written in Chinese;
- render the meaning of this text in correct French;
- advisedly use dictionaries and reference documents.

Content of UE

Basic principles and techniques of sight translation and consecutive interpretation.
Introduction to oral translation of a written text or a short speech.
Texts and speeches accessible with a command of Chinese at the B2 level of the CEFR. Written translation of informative and pragmatic texts, accessible with a command of Chinese at the B2 level of the CEFR.
