Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
    • Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
    • Be proficient in another foreign language
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Demonstrate real knowledge of the cultures of the studied languages
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
    • Be familiar with codes and conventions of other cultures for the sake of interpersonal relationships
  • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
    • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
    • Reformulate, summarise, translate or interpret a document of general interest written or presented orally in a foreign language into French
    • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
    • Communicate results or conclusions of these activities or projects in an appropriate manner
  • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
    • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
    • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used

Learning Outcomes of UE

Students will be able to:
- identify, place and describe significant cultural events as a native speaker would (literature, Fine Arts, political, economic and social organisation, judicial system, etc.) ;
- carry out competent and accurate research on these subjects ; 
- report on their methodology and research. Students will be able to :
- understand texts in which the writers adopt particular stances or viewpoints as well as contemporary fiction works ;
- follow complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar ; 
- understand current affairs programmes and a majority of films in standard dialect ;
- interact with native speakers ; 
- produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of familiar subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue.

Content of UE

Familiarization with culture and literature. Presentation of the organisation of the political, judicial and social systems, as well as of important social activities (education, media, etc.). Critical analysis of genuine audio-visual documents and varied texts.
