Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Know basic concepts of geology in terms of objects and surface processes(rocks, minerals, tectonics, sedimentary and supergene processes, etc.) Develop and train observation skills and the analysis of natural objects in laboratory and in the field Identify and characterize rocks and minerals at macro- and microscopic scales. Know basics of stratigraphy and paleontology. Be able of analyzing how rocks are organized in space and geological time. Be able of describing and identifying fossil specimens and interpreting them in terms of environment and geological age.
Content of UE
Dating methods, surface processes (erosion, sedimentation, diagenesis, weathering and soils, associated resources). Stratigraphy : elements and techniques in stratigraphy. Paleontology : overview and invertebrate paleontology.
