      Objectives of general skills

      • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
        • Use French perfectly in a variety of non-technical situations, both orally and in writing
        • Understand, reformulate and summarise documents and presentations, in French, on various topics written by experts, including those related to current affairs
        • Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
        • Be proficient in another foreign language
      • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
        • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
        • Be familiar with codes and conventions of other cultures for the sake of interpersonal relationships
      • Use everyday technology (technological skills)
        • Use standard office software tools and editorial assistance effectively
      • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
        • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately
        • Carry out, alone or in groups, activities or projects involving critical analysis
      • Conduct relevant research and report on it in a critical manner (cognitive skills)
        • Conduct targeted and reasoned documentary research in both the core language and the foreign languages studied
        • Assess the relevance and reliability of documentary sources used
        • Give a critique of the studied literature

      UE's Learning outcomes

      - understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type; - introduce him/herself and others and ask and answer questions about personal details; - interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

      UE Content

      Commented reading of a large range of texts. Commented listening activities, based on audio and visual resources.
      Oral and written production exercises: written texts and oral utterances in portuguese on various and recent topics.
      Systematic and appropriate use of grammar and vocabulary.
