Objectives of general skills
- Understand language of instruction and foreign languages (language skills)
- Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
- Identify cultural differences and talk about them
- Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
- Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately

UE's Learning outcomes
At the end of this unit, students studying English language should be proficient in English at C1 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Specifically, they should be able to:
- read articles and reports on contemporary issues in which a certain stance or point of view is endorsed, and understand contemporary literary texts in prose;
- write clear, detailed texts on topics within the compass of their interests in order to convey some information or develop personal arguments for or against an opinion.
UE Content
Analysis of and comment on a range of texts (contents, style, length, function). Production of texts with implementation of compensation, monitoring and correction strategies:
- summing up information and arguments borrowed from various sources;
- developing personal arguments.
