      Objectives of general skills

      • Understand the fundamentals
        • Understand the key areas of chemistry: inorganic, organic, physical, biological and analytical chemistry, as well as basic knowledge required in mathematics, biology and physics
        • Have developed the learning skills needed to undertake further studies with a sufficient degree of autonomy

      UE's Learning outcomes

Understanding the behavior of matter by microscopic and statistical approach.

      UE Content

Introduction to statistics and probability (binomial distribution, Poisson and Gaussian) statistical mechanics (ergodicity, basic assumptions, Shannon entropy, equilibrium) micro-canonical ensemble (phase space, application to ideal gases, Gibbs paradox) canonical ensemble (descriptions ideal gas atmospheres laws, Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution, van der Waals gas mean-field approximation, chemical reactions) Grand canonical Ensemble
