      Objectives of general skills

      • Communicate and exchange information in a structured way - orally, graphically and in writing, in French and in one or more other languages - scientifically, culturally, technically and interpersonally, by adapting to the intended purpose and the relevant public.
        • Argue to and persuade clients, colleagues, teachers and boards, both orally and in writing.
        • Select and use written communication methods and materials, graphically or orally, adapted to the intended purpose and the relevant public.
        • Use and produce scientific and technical documents (reports, plans, specifications, etc.) adapted to the intended purpose and the relevant public.

      UE's Learning outcomes

      understand and use the basic structures of German; communicate orally in everyday situations; read simple texts and public notices; write short texts on familiar subjects; be aware of some cultural aspects of life in German-speaking countries. The course covers levels A1-A2 as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

      UE Content

      Areas of communication: introducing oneself, getting to know other people, family and relatives, work, leisure, food and eating out, transport, shopping, housing and health. Language study: pronunciation and spelling; grammar and syntax; word formation; sentence structure (statements, questions, negation); regular and irregular verbs, tenses (Präsens, Perfekt), modal verbs; noun and article declensions in the nominative, accusative and dative cases; prepositions; conjunctions (coordination).
