    Thermodynamic study of steelmaking and non-ferrous production processes; Phenomenological study of ferrous and non-ferrous metal production processes: oxygen steelmaking and refining of steel (including stainless steel), steel recycling with EAF furnace, production of aluminum, copper, zinc, magensium and titanium; Theoretical and phenomenological study of steel solidification, including continuous casting; Metallurgical phenomenon occuring during hot and cold rolling; Products quality; Environmental aspects.

    Term 2 Assessment - comments

    Lab, seminaries and plant visits: 25% of the total note; Evaluation of the computer simulation project. The grade includes quality of the report's presentatin and exactitude of the explanations. Evaluation during the  year of participation to seminars and plant visits.
    Oral exam, 75% of final mark, max. duration 60 min. All the content is susceptible to be evaluated (ferrous and non ferrous metallurgy, solidification and rolling), including exercises. questions are distributed randomly.  Students prepare their answer and expose them orally. Exam includes at least 2 questions. Synthesis and concision are required for the answers.
