Computational Fluid Dynamics : This course aims to introduce students to key techniques in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The students will be able to: Describe the different methods in CFD, their potential and their limitations; Summarize the different steps and the most common simulation methods in fluid mechanics; Contribute to the development of CFD software; Make a judicious use of numerical simulations and commercial software; Appreciate the relevance and the quality of simulation results.

For the oral examination, the answer is prepared on paper and presented orally. It is done without the help of notes and takes place on a half-day during the January session. To assess the degree of assimilation and of knowledge of the subject (not a pure memory reproduction of relationships and content learned by heart), the examination consists of a questionnaire covering: - A question of general theory for 75% of the final mark; - A question of exercise for 25% of the final mark. The answer to these questions is prepared on paper and then exposed individually and orally by the student. Each year, the list of chapters and the content to be learned for the oral-written examination is given to the students on the intranet WEB site. Unless explicitly stated in this list, the content for the examination is all the elements seen during the course and included in the copy of the slides made available as class notes for the students. The theoretical question is a question of synthesis that covers the fundamental aspects of the course. The questionnaire is detailing the steps expected in the answer. The exercise makes a direct appeal to the notions of the course and is presented in a form similar to those presented in the course and resolved during the exercise and practical work labs. This introductory course is based on the concepts of computer science and numerical analysis and the principles and laws of conservation seen in fluid mechanics. The exam takes about three hours (approximately 2 hours 30 preparation).
