Objectives of general skills

  • Understand language of instruction and foreign languages?? (language skills)
    • Communicate easily and adequately, in both selected foreign languages, at a minimum level of B2 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)?
  • Understand and integrate cultural similarities and differences (cultural and intercultural skills)
    • Identify cultural differences and talk about them
  • Use lexicographical resources and reference materials to lead linguistic mediation activities individually or as part of a team (professional skills)
    • Use printed or electronic dictionaries and reference materials appropriately

UE's Learning outcomes

Will have attained mastery of the English language at the B2 level as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Will be able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and independent disadvantages of various options.

UE Content

Production of texts demonstrating a capacity for clearly expressing ideas using basic vocabulary, paraphrasing when necessary, in grammatically correct form.

Prior experience

Students enrolling in first-year English are expected to already have attained at least the A2 level as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
